Firefighting - A Family Tradition

Laura Monsen first became a student at College of the Rockies in 2015 when she received her Level 1 and 2 firefighting training. In 2017, after five years with the Castlegar Fire Department, Laura became their first female officer. In an effort to better prepare for her new role, Laura is now enrolled in the College’s Fire Officer course. Read more about Laura's journey.

Orientation Week 2019

We're welcoming new and returning students for the 2019-2020 academic year! Our Orientation Week starts on Tuesday September 3rd at 9:30 am. There are activities throughout the afternoon and a FREE BBQ. A full schedule of program orientations and welcome week activities/events are available on the orientation website. See you then!

Explore Trades programs

Are you considering a career in Trades? Trades Exploration allows you to spend 15 weeks familiarizing yourself with 6 different trades: Carpentry, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Welding, Electrical, Heavy Duty Mechanic and Piping Trades (plumbing, steamfitter/pipefitter).

Study Cannabis Education and Training Online

The cannabis industry is poised for explosive growth - start your career here.

Our 26-week Cannabis Retail Specialist program is designed to provide training for employment in one of Canada's most rapidly evolving industries. The next intake for this online program is September 30, 2019, and includes a workplace practicum to gain hands-on experience in a retail cannabis related business.

Study Tourism Management Online

Our online Tourism Management program prepares you for a career in resorts, hotels, and other tourism operations. You can choose from a one-year certificate or complete the two-year diploma program.

The program includes courses in tourism, business management, and you will have the opportunity to participate in a work placement to gain hands-on experience in a tourism related business.
