Careers in Caring, and Skills for Life

Child, Youth and Family Studies

The Child, Youth and Family Studies (CYFS) department offers programs for individuals interested in certificates and diplomas in early childhood education, family child care, human service work, educational assistance, and related careers. In most cases, you may choose courses online or in the classroom, and full-time or part-time studies.

Alternative Program Options
Students wishing to complete a diploma with an unrelated certificate may do so, and will be awarded a Child, Youth, and Family Studies Diploma. Students completing all 5 diploma level courses without completion of a certificate, may receive a Citation Certificate.

Students interested in registering for courses without admission into the certificates or diplomas must receive permission from the course instructor.

Transfer Options
CYFS programs share a number of courses to allow for transferability between certificates. This gives you the opportunity to complete more than one certificate quickly, easily and without course duplication. Many of our courses will transfer to other institutions across BC and other provinces. www.cotr.bc.ca/transfer
