The Child, Youth and Family Studies (CYFS) department offers programs for individuals interested in certificates and diplomas in early childhood education, family child care, human service work, educational assistance, and related careers. In most cases, you may choose courses online or in the classroom, and full-time or part-time studies.

General CYFS Program Admission Requirements
Alternative Program Options
Students wishing to complete a diploma with an unrelated certificate may do so, and will be awarded a Child, Youth, and Family Studies Diploma. Students completing all 5 diploma level courses without completion of a certificate, may receive a Citation Certificate.
Students interested in registering for courses without admission into the certificates or diplomas must receive permission from the course instructor.
Transfer Options
CYFS programs share a number of courses to allow for transferability between certificates. This gives you the opportunity to complete more than one certificate quickly, easily and without course duplication. Early Childhood Education
The ECE Certificate and Diploma programs offer students the knowledge and skills to provide high quality childcare and education.
Education Assistant
Education Assistants assist teachers in designing, implementing, supervising, and assessing educational programs. Certificate and Diploma levels.
Family Child Care Certificate
Focuses on the skills and knowledge needed by caregivers to work effectively with young children and their families in a family child care setting.
Human Service Worker
Human Service Workers are trained in basic helping skills essential to the helping relationship. The program offers both a certificate and diploma level of study.
