Course Overview:

Get your start in the restaurant or food service industry. In our Kitchen Assistant program you will receive four weeks of training providing you with the skills and knowledge required to fill entry-level food service positions.

Certification for FoodSafe Level 1 and WHMIS are included.

Learn the basic workings of a kitchen from equipment recognition and use, cleaning and sanitation processes, commercial dishwashing, receiving and storage practices. The program covers hands-on practice including knife skills, recipe execution and conversion, measuring, temperature taking/recording, fire safety and what to do when faced with an incident or accident. This Kitchen Assistant program will also cover communication, working within a team, and how to prioritize in a kitchen, giving you the critical skills the food service industry is seeking.
