Cinema: The Screwball Comedy | $199 + GST

Course Overview:

The screwball comedy is an American film genre characterized by a comedic "battle of the sexes", in which the woman inevitably wins.  As one of the primary film genres of the 1930's and the depression years, screwball comedy excels in escapist comedic plots, farcical situations, economic inequities and fast-paced dialogue.  Films to be screened in this course may include:  It Happened One Night, My Man Godfrey, Topper, Bringing Up Baby, The Lady Evan and The Awful Truth, among others.  Popcorn will be supplied.
