Information for Hired Students

When you are hired as a student employee, you will be asked to meet with a Career and Placement Officer at Student Employment Services so the following forms can be completed:

College Auxiliary Assignment Form
TD1 Tax Forms for Canada and British Columbia
Pension Waiver Form
Emergency Contact Form
Protection of Privacy Acknowledgement Form
Void Cheque - Because the College pays by direct deposit, we will also need a void cheque from your bank account, or a print out from the bank which shows the appropriate information for Payroll.

To Get Paid

This is the new College timesheet. Save this to your computer. Fill in, print out, and sign.

Please submit your timesheets bi-weekly to your position supervisor, as per the
Timesheet Submission Schedule. Ask your supervisor when he or she wants the timesheets in (usually by the 15th or 30th of each month).

Information for International Students

You don't need a work permit to work on campus, but you will need to get an Social Insurance Card (SIN card) to be able to be paid. We will need to make a photocopy of this card to submit to Payroll. To apply for your SIN card, you will need to go down to your local Service Canada office and fill out an application. When you go to the office, you must bring your study permit and a letter from Student Employment Services confirming the work you are doing at the College and how long the work is for.

For information on off-campus work for International students, check the Citizenship and Immigration Website. COTR International Education and Student Employment Services can also help you with information on this process.
