Bursaries and Scholarships

As an Indigenous student there are many opportunities to offset the costs of tuition, books and living expenses. A broad range of scholarships and bursaries, from many different institutions across Canada simply require an application. Below you will find a list of links to several scholarship and bursary opportunities. Take some time to search for all the funding that may be available to you.

Did you know that often times scholarship and bursary funds go untapped, simply because no one took the time to apply? By taking as little as two hours out of your day, to fill out an application, you could receive anywhere between $500 to $1000 or even more! That's like earning $250 per hour! Take some time to go through the opportunities below. If you need any assistance with your application please contact the Indigenous Cultural Liaison, who will be happy to assist.
 

Adult Upgrading Grant - The adult upgrading grant is available to student wishing to upgrade to get into a program at the College or students wishing to complete their high school diploma.

New Relationship Trust -  The New Relationship Trust Foundation assists First Nations students in BC to achieve their educational goals and supports First Nations in language revitalization on an ongoing basis.

College of the Rockies Financial Aid

The Aboriginal Bursaries search tool provides a list of bursaries, scholarships and incentives across Canada, offered by governments, universities and colleges, private sector and public companies, individual Canadians, organizations and others. Check it out to see if are eligible.

Aboriginal Learning Links provides a hub for Aboriginal post-secondary resources and bursary/scholarship information.

Indspire (formerly the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation)
Indspire administers the scholarships and bursaries for a wide range of industry, private and government sponsors. These awards are listed in three major categories: Post-Secondary Education, Fine Arts and Cultural Projects and Health Careers.

The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Aboriginal Scholarship

The George Watts Bursary for Aboriginal students pursing social sciences/social work studies.
