Rob Doka - Haul Truck Operator Trainer
Rob Doka has over 17 years of experience operating heavy equipment in the mining Industry. He has been a coach/mentor in haul truck training and a Safety Rep at Line Creek Mine. Rob has his level 2 Immersive Pro3 Simulator Trainer Advantage certificate of training, a St. John Ambulance First Aid ticket as well as numerous L&D courses. Rob also assisted in the development of the curriculum and evaluation for the College of the Rockies Haul Truck Operator Program.


Monte Smith - Haul Truck Operator Trainer
Monte has experience as both a Haul Truck operator and trainer for Teck Coal in the Elk Valley. Prior to working for Teck, Monte worked with a wide variety of heavy machinery. As an advocate of life-long learning and self-development, Monte brings a fresh approach to the Haul Truck Operator program: "I want to create a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere in class, where our students have the best chance of retaining what they've learned and become safe and efficient Haul Truck Operators."


Darren Hood - Program Advisor
Darren Hood (Hoody) has more than 30 years' experience working in heavy equipment in coal mining and oil sands mining and more than seven years as a trainer. Hoody has extensive commitment to and expertise in this sector and has managed the development of the curriculum and evaluation for the College of the Rockies Haul Truck Operator program. His resume includes Level 3 Immersive Pro3 Simulator Training, Mine Rescue Ticket, St. John's First Aid Ticket, Modular Mining Dispatch Course, numerous L&D and "Train the Trainer" courses. He has experience as the Equipment Operator, Equipment Trainer and Lead Hand for Elk Valley Coal, and as Site Trainer, Training Coordinator, and Senior Training Lead for North American Construction Group's Training Department. Hoody has been leading the haul truck operator program for the past year and will be critical to expanding the program into other pieces of heavy equipment.
