Receive the skills and knowledge you need to begin work as soon as you graduate. This 2 year program consists of practical, experiential, and direct, hands-on work experience in hospitality operations.

Whether you’re interested in being on the front lines or behind the scenes, working at a mountain resort, wilderness campground, ski hill or boutique hotel, the Hospitality Management diploma program prepares students for entry-level and supervisory roles in the accommodation and food & beverage industries.

Semester schedules are organized to make the most of high-season work opportunities and provide students with the skills and technical knowledge required for success.

You will receive

  • The opportunity to learn and work in a beautiful natural environment, within small, safe communities
  • Training in the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to work in a multitude of hospitality driven industries
  • Training for Industry certifications in: Food Safe 1, Serving It Right, WHMIS, Occupational First Aid Level 1 and Super Host

  • Assistance from the College in securing accommodation

Admission Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation (or equivalent)
  • 65% in English 12 or equivalent Refer to: Course Equivalency Information
  • Students for whom English is a second language must meet the English proficiency requirements
    Refer to: Language Requirements
  • Recommended: 65% in Foundation of Math 11, Pre-Calculus 11, Principles of Math 11,
    Applications of Math 12, MATH 080, or equivalent
  • Recommended: Basic computer skills

Additional Requirements:

  • This program uses e-textbooks, so students must provide a laptop or tablet for classroom use. Contact us for recommended specifications. (If you are unable to provide your own device, you must arrange for textbook printing
    at your own cost.)
  • Protective clothing
  • Small kitchen equipment, such as knives for the Food Introduction course

Program Details

  • Program length: 2 years, Spring intake 2018
  • 20 industry related courses (15 core and 5 elective)
  • Location: Invermere, BC campus
  • Class size: 24 spaces available
  • This program is primarily face-to-face classroom instruction, combined with labs, field activities in hospitality settings,
    and co-op placement.
  • Students are required to maintain a minimum course grade of C- (55%) in all program courses
  • Students intending to continue into the College of the Rockies Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program are required to maintain a minimum course grade of C (60%) and an average course grade of C+ in all program courses that contribute to the BBA

  • Upon successful completion, you will be prepared for entry to the workplace or transfer to a degree program after completing two years of study at College of the Rockies.
  • Graduates of this program will also be able to ladder into a Hospitality Management or Tourism Management degree program at other universities. Refer to: Transfer Information
