Inspire Centre
The Inspire Centre provides services related to educational technology, teaching development, learning design, innovation, and applied research.
We provide support for:
- COTROnline, also known as Moodle, and other instructional technologies
- Multimedia development and use
- Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) coordination and training
- Professional development and scholarship
- Innovative teaching and learning strategies and practices
- Applied research projects
- Course design and delivery (online, blended, and face-to-face)
We strive to:
- Offer workshops and discussions of interest to faculty
- Create and promote a community of scholars
- Promote learner-centred instructional approaches, methods and delivery
- Support the indigenization and internationalization of curriculum
- Support the integration of applied research and experiential learning
- Assist in the development of project ideas and proposals
Here are some of the ways we typically offer teaching and learning support:
- Orient you to new COTROnline practices, plug-ins, and functionalities
- Offer advice to streamline or improve your workflow
- Create alignment between your course learning objectives and the College’s strategic priorities for Indigenization and Internationalization
- Offer creative examples of new assessment strategies
- Train you in new applications for teaching and learning technologies
- Promote intercultural and self-reflective learning
Here are some of the ways we typically offer research support:
- Connect you with others doing research in your area of interest (colleagues, businesses, community groups, other academic institutions)
- Identify funding opportunities in your area and assist in writing grant applications
- Coordinate logistics for research with external partners
- Provide a venue for discussion of innovative ideas and topics of interest (brainstorming sessions, networking meetings, etc.)
- Provide guidance in the application process for teaching release time for your research
- Provide guidance in the requirements of the ethics review process
