OFAD Certificate Programs

Office Administration Certificate

This certificate covers the essential skills required by entry-level office workers. Students will key professional business correspondence using correct business grammar and format. The Business Calculator, Excel 1, and Bookkeeping 1 courses will introduce basic bookkeeping concepts and the use of spreadsheets.

Students are encouraged to achieve a keying speed of 45 wpm in five-minute timings and to complete a 30-hour practicum in an approved business setting.

Administrative Assistant Specialty Certificate

The Administrative Assistant Specialty covers the skills and concepts needed by administrative assistant personnel. Students produce “real-world” business documents to professional standards. Students develop business correspondence writing skills for creating routine business letters, reports, presentations, newsletters and other documents requiring extensive use of graphics.

The use of MS Office software is extensive in all courses. Students' keyboarding speed goal is 55 wpm.

To receive an Administrative Assistant Specialty Certificate, students must complete all courses listed in the Office Administration Certificate above, and the following:

Bookkeeping Specialty Certificate

The Bookkeeping Specialty covers a working knowledge of both manual and computerized bookkeeping systems as well as the development of skills in spreadsheet, database, and file management.  Students are expected to establish employable skills for working in offices where they may perform a variety of functions. This certificate has a keyboarding speed goal of 45 wpm.

Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate

The Legal Administrative Assistant certificate program covers the skills to prepare students for job-entry, word processing, or administrative assistant positions in legal offices or related fields. The emphasis is on practical skills training in the preparation of legal documents. The common OFAD/Legal courses are offered both in the classroom and online; however, the legal courses are available only online.
