College of the Rockies’ Sustainability Committee, with support from the Faculty Guest Lecture Fund, is pleased to host a free screening of the documentary – An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power on Thursday, October 26 at 4:30 pm. The film is the recently released follow-up to the Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth. A live question and answer simulcast with former US Vice President, Al Gore, will immediately precede the film’s screening.

A decade after An Inconvenient Truth brought the climate crisis into the heart of popular culture, this riveting and rousing follow-up shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution. Former Vice President Gore continues his tireless fight, travelling around the world training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Cameras follow him behind the scenes – in moments both private and public, funny and poignant – as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer a screening of this documentary film, along with a live simulcast with former Vice President Gore, to our region,” says Sustainability Committee Chair and Business programs coordinator Greg McCallum. “Our business programs at the College have a focus on sustainability, including environmental sustainability and we also offer a university studies certificate in environmental studies, making this event a great fit for us. The screening and question and answer webcast present a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about climate change.”

The questions that will be presented to Gore for the Q & A were submitted by some of the over 100 schools in the US and Canada who will participate in the live webcast.

This free event will start at 4:30 pm at the College’s Lecture Theatre (room 250). The Q & A simulcast begins at 4:45 pm with the screening of the film taking place at 5:20 pm. Seating is limited.
