College of the Rockies Kinesiology program prepares students for challenging careers
College of the Rockies' Kinesiology program provides students with an opportunity to earn either a certificate or diploma which can then be transferred into degree programs throughout Western Canada. Kinesiology is a very exciting, and increasingly important, growing field that offers a variety of career options.

New to the Kinesiology diploma program is the ability for students to become certified personal trainers. Learners are offered all of the necessary course work to be eligible to take the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Certified Personal Trainer (CSEP-CPT) practical and written examination to become a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer. The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology is the principal governing body for physical activity, health and fitness research and personal training and is the gold standard in Canada.
Former student, Raiah Hark, said, “Getting CSEP certification after only two years through College of the Rockies was an amazing opportunity. In my fourth year of university I was the only student who had completed a VO2 max test and one of very few people who had CSEP-CPT training.”
Kinesiology students also have the opportunity to gain other important industry credentials while enrolled in the program. Instructor Jani Vogell says, “Our faculty are fully qualified to act as course conductors and examiners by the fitness industry for a number of certifications which gives our students important industry-recognized credentials.”
Andrea Gris, a former student who has recently been accepted into a Masters of Physiotherapy program at UBC, says, “The College of the Rockies Kinesiology program prepared me for further post-secondary education at the university level, by providing me with the proper background and resources needed to attain a degree. The relationships I built in those two years at College of the Rockies, because of smaller class sizes and personable instructors, are ones I will never forget.”
