~Blaze was working in security but wanted to make a change. After an assessment indicated he may be best suited for Human Service work he enrolled in Adult Upgrading at College of the Rockies to get the prerequisites he needed. ~
Upon completing his upgrading, Blaze chose the Human Service Worker program at College of the Rockies because he wanted to remain local yet receive a quality education.
At the conclusion of the practicum portion of the certificate program, Blaze was offered an on-call position at Pioneer Lodge, a residential facility supporting people with developmental disabilities. Now nearing the completion of the diploma program, he has accepted a temporary full-time position at the Lodge.
Completing the Human Service Worker program at College of the Rockies is the fulfilment of a dream for Blaze. “I was not expected to attend college, let alone graduate,” he says. “Now I am the first of my siblings to be completing a college program.”
