Program Overview

The Accounting diploma program introduces fundamental business principles and skills in the core functional areas of business. In the diploma program, students develop a foundation in business knowledge with a focus on accounting.

This Accounting diploma is awarded to students who successfully complete the two-year diploma curriculum in Accounting.

College of the Rockies Diploma graduates can directly enter the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program with full credit for their previous coursework. Or they can continue their education elsewhere, working towards university degrees and professional certifications and designations such as the ACAF (Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance), CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), and CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources).


Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 65% in English 12 or equivalent (refer to Course Equivalency Information on the College website)
  • For students for whom English is a second language, students must meet the Grade 12 English equivalency posted on COTR's Admissions and Registration website; or successful completion of a university/college level English course (e.g. ENGL 100)
  • Minimum grade of 65% in either Foundation of Math 11, Pre-Calculus 11, Principles of Math 11, Applications of Math 12, or MATH 080.

Students may commence certain courses in the program while they upgrade.

Progression Policy: Students require a minimum average grade of 55% to qualify for the Business Management certificate and diploma. A grade of 50% grants credit but is not sufficient as a prerequisite for a subsequent course. BBA students must maintain a minimum grade of 60% and an average of 65% for the BBA degree.

We have setup block transfer agreements with other colleges and universities to help you continue your studies once you have completed your program. If we don't have a transfer agreement for your program you can usually transfer your individual courses to another college or university in Canada.
