Recreation Leaders Certificate

Program Overview

The Recreation Leaders Certificate is a one year program that provides graduates with the knowledge and skills for front line positions in recreation programming. The certificate is also designed for recreation employees currently working in community settings across BC with coursework that will support them in their roles.

Students should leave this program with enhanced skills such as critical thinking and evaluation; planning; business management; sustainability; industry knowledge, team skills, writing, communication and presentation skills.


Admission Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 60% in English 12 or ENGL 090 or ENGL 091 or EFP 12, OR TPC 12 or assessment to an acceptable level
  • A minimum of 60% in Principles, Applications or Foundations Math 11 or Pre-calculus or MATH 080 or MATH 082
  • Basic computer skills are also recommended

Note: Applicants who can demonstrate prior industry experience may be admitted as mature students through consultation with the Program Coordinator and/or Education Advisor.
