University Studies Programs / Courses
The University Studies Program provides high quality instruction for students taking First and Second year courses in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Sciences.
Students receive a solid foundation of knowledge in introductory courses and in specialized second year courses.
All the courses carry direct transfer credit to B.C. universities, the University of Lethbridge, and, in general, to other universities.
Students may also take an Associate of Arts Degree or an Associate of Science Degree within the Department. The degree requires sixty semester credits of first and second year courses and a minimum of ”C-” grade for each course.
The Value of a Liberal Arts and Sciences Education
Education is for the whole person. The versatility of courses and instruction in the Department provides students with a well-rounded education that will stimulate their personal growth and enrich their contribution to society.
The courses inspire life-long learning for they are adventures in ideas in the continuous pursuit of knowledge and intellectual skills.
A Liberal Arts and Sciences education is, of course, a good preparation for employment because successful students have demonstrated their ability to master new knowledge, their openness to innovation, and their eagerness to learn.
Faculty
The faculty consists of regular and auxiliary instructors.Their qualifications range from Master’s Degrees (minimum qualification for a University Transfer instructor) to Doctorates.
Our faculty were carefully chosen for their ability to teach, and their attitude toward their students. The faculty members are readily accessible to students outside class time.
Reasons for Choosing College of the Rockies
Classes are smaller and allow for more interaction and discussion than at larger institutions.
Library resources include all the latest technology and allow students the opportunity to become familiar with these sources in a helpful environment.
The tuition fee costs allow students to gain a solid first and second year Associate Degree and transfer having made substantial savings that can be used to finance future education costs.
Many of our successful students have reported back to us. Some have stated that the caring, quality education they received at College of the Rockies was better than any they received at other post-secondary institutions. Many of our students, upon graduation from university, still use us as their primary reference because of the strong relationships established between students and faculty.
