ENGL-211 - English Literature from Beowulf to the French Revolution

English 211 provides students with foundational knowledge of representative literary works and movements from Beowulf and Chaucer to the novels of Eliza Haywood and the poetry of William Cowper. The course will also ask students to question the literary canon, incorporating texts from marginal and underrepresented writers and pointing out gaps.
Prerequisites: Two of ENGL 100, 101, 102, 202, or 270
